The Allswell Mattress Review
Hybrid Mattress
Allswell’s goal is to merge elements of quality, value, and style into one product. We’ll take a close look into all aspects of their latest mattress model.
What type of mattress is the Allswell?
The Allswell is a hybrid mattress that combines multiple layers of memory foam and pocketed coils to create a medium firmness. For those on a budget, it’s a solid option.
The Allswell Highlights
- Pressure relieving
- Low motion transfer
- Solid edge support
- Exceptional price point
- Sleeps cool
Construction
- The cover is made of 400 gsm 90% Polyester and 10% Spandex. This fabric is soft to the touch and stretches for additional comfort. Appearance wise, we were quite impressed. Aesthetically, it has the rich, luxurious look of a high end mattress.
- 75″ gel memory foam (open cell CoolFlow™ foam) is built into the quilt. This material has been shown to increase breathability. In all, There are 3 layers of memory foam that give the Allswell a nice pressure relieving comfort feel.
- 2″ 1.5lb polyurethane foam (30 ILD) acts as supportive transition foam above the coils.
- 6″ individually wrapped coils limit motion detection. A heavier gauge is used around perimeter for stronger edge support. 0.75″
- 3lb. Polyurethane base foam (32 ILD) provides additional structure and stability.

The Allswell mattress is designed to be a medium on the firmness scale. This feel is often marketed as a universal comfort option. It should appeal to most, but not all firmness preferences. No two people interpret comfort the same way due to a variety of factors.
Pressing into the Allswell Mattress
Body Mass Index (BMI) ratios affect comfort and support levels. The Allswell is a smaller profile mattress. Larger individuals will be absorbed into this bed more than someone with a lower BMI score. This results in a softer feel than how a lighter body type will perceive it. Age, physical condition and personal preference also play a role in determining the best feel for you. Those with greater pressure sensitivities from injuries, arthritis or fibromyalgia, may prefer a mattress with more body hug than what this mattress offers.
Sleep position is also a key factor in determining comfort. Here is what our trial revealed:
On your back…
Even on your back, your body is not flat. We noticed a sufficient amount of contouring to conform to the spine while maintaining adequate support for average body types. That said, structure may be lacking for larger individuals. Overall, we found this mattress to be quite comfortable on our backs.
On your side…
We noticed a surprising amount of pressure relief while on our sides. Lower profile mattresses sometimes have a hard time delivering a softer feel while maintaining support. Allswell has done a nice job of providing the best of both qualities. The amount of contouring should be more than adequate for most. However, those with extreme pressure sensitivities may require more body hug than this mattress offers. What you will get is a medium comfort feel that should be soft enough for the majority of side sleepers.
On your stomach…
Unlike side sleepers, stomach sleepers require a bit more firmness. This mattress has that not too firm but, not too soft feel that should keep most stomach sleepers happy. While the firmness level should not be a problem, an individual with a higher BMI might sink a bit too much and potentially cause lower back pain.
The Allswell Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Decent support: This mattress offers support that exceeds expectations
- Low motion transfer: Limited partner sleep disturbance for couples.
- Sleeps cool: Breathable fabrics and cool gel foams help regulate heat.
- Pressure relief: Pocketed coils and quality foams provide contouring
- Great Value: The Allswell mattress is a great value for the dollar
Cons:
- Limited firmness range: This mattress is only available in a medium firmness
- Support: Structurally, we have concerns about long term support and durability. This is especially true for larger individuals.
Who Will Like This Mattress
Those seeking an affordable option to a high priced retail mattress like the Allswell. It’s a great value for price-conscious shoppers.
If you’re looking for a cool sleeping mattress, The Allswell should meet your needs. Gel memory foams, quilted breathable fabric cover and pocketed coils allow for significant air flow.
Couples who don’t want to disturb each other’s sleep will appreciate the Allswell’s low motion transfer. Our Testing revealed little to no sleep partner disturbance.
Those seeking a medium firmness level will find this mattress comfortable. Most people will find it soft enough while on your side. Yet, it’s firm enough for back and stomach sleepers.
Parents looking for an ideal childrens mattress should take a look at the Allswell. The company lists this mattress as 10” but our actual measurements were closer to 9”. It’s lower profile stature is ideal for young children. It also offers support that is more than adequate at a great price point.
If you are in need of a guest bed, This mattress is an affordable quality option. It’s medium firmness level is a safe bet for your company’s comfort.
Who Will Not Like This Mattress
If you prefer a very soft or very hard bed, this mattress may not be for you. Those looking either extreme will not find their needs met here.
Larger body types may find support lacking. Our concern is those with higher BMI may sink too deep to maintain proper alignment.
The Allswell Unboxing and Setup
Weighing under 80 lbs, the Allswell mattress was relatively easy to bring into the home compared to some much heavier beds we’ve reviewed. Remember, white glove in-home delivery and set up service is available if desired.
Once in the room it will be slept in, remove your mattress from its box. Place it on its platform prior to unwrapping. Cut through the first layer of plastic being careful not to damage the fabric topper during this process. Your mattress will now begin to expand and take shape quickly. You can lay on your mattress within minute although full expansion may take a few hours.
