Lytton Sleep is a newcomer to the bedding industry. Yet, that has not kept them from using some real old-world craftsmanship in their production. Lytton provided us with a sample of their Comfort Plush mattress for our review. We’ll take you through every step of our evaluation.
The Lytton: Comfort Plush Highlights

Construction
Organic Cotton Cover
Hand-tufted organic cotton breathes easy and sleeps cool. This soft but sturdy fabric cover is both durable and comfortable. Hand tufting also eliminates the need for glues to join support layers. This allows for more spinal conformity by reducing the trampoline effect excessive epoxies can cause. An added benefit is a more eco-friendly, healthier sleep environment.
1″ Gel Memory Foam
Memory foam contours to your body and alleviates pressure points. Cooling gel lessens heat retention and allows for a cooler, more comfortable sleep.
3″ Serene Foam
This open-celled foam is designed for better airflow and heat reduction. Like memory foam, Serene is pressure relieving and limits motion transfer. However, it has a bit more buoyancy and less sinkage.
8″ quantum coil system
Zoned coils alternate gauges to provide more customized support for shoulders and hips. This allows for better spine alignment and comfort.

Lytton Sleep produces two firmness options; the Comfort Plush & Comfort Firm. While both provide equal support, their unique feels will appeal to different types of sleepers.
Back Sleepers
During our trial of the Comfort Plush, we found back sleeping to be quite comfortable. This mattress provides solid support and alignment. It does so while still allowing contouring pressure relief for the spine. Small to medium size sleepers will most likely gravitate to this soft but not too soft feel. That said, larger sleepers typically interpret comfort differently. Those with a higher body mass index (BMI) will sink further into the bed. This creates the perception that a mattress is softer. In this case, the Comfort Firm may be the better choice.
Side Sleepers
When considering the two options, the clear choice for most side sleepers is the Comfort Plush. We found this mattress to have a nice body hug and conformity. This reduces pressure on the shoulders and hips, allowing you to sleep in one position longer. Of course, firmness perception can vary based on body types. Some heavier sleepers may opt for the Comfort Firm based on how much further their bodies are absorbed into the mattress. That said, the softer option is the safer bet for the majority of sleepers.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleeping puts your spine in an unnatural position and can be the cause of much discomfort. While back or side sleeping creates better body alignment, sleep habits are hard to change. If stomach sleeping is your position of choice, the Comfort Firm is worth considering. This mattress should prevent your midsection from dipping too much. This will reduce lower back pain.

Who Will Like This Mattress
Those seeking a decent amount of body hug without too much sinkage will appreciate the Lytton Comfort Plush. If your preference is something with less give, consider the Comfort Firm.
If you sleep hot, this mattress will keep you sleeping cool and comfortable.
Couples will enjoy less partner disturbance. Memory foam and individually pocketed coils combine to limit motion transfer.
Larger sleepers will appreciate the solid structural alignment.

Who Will Not Like This Mattress
If you need an in-home setup, Lytton does not offer this service.
Those who like the feel of an all-foam mattress will probably not like it’s more structured feel.
The Lytton: Comfort Plush Unboxing and Setup
The Lytton Sleep mattress is roll packed for easy delivery. It also makes bringing it into your home more convenient too. Keep in mind, a queen mattress is over 100 lbs. One reasonably strong person could handle the setup. We recommend a second set of hands.
Upon delivery, the first thing we noticed was how long the box was compared to other bed-a-box mattresses we have reviewed. Most other models have been rolled and folded, making the packaging shorter and thicker. The packaging looks different because the mattress is different. While foam or less substantial coil units can be condensed into a smaller box, a quality quantum coil can not. But, even with it’s longer dimensions, this mattress will easily go into any home.
We recommend bringing your mattress to the room you intend to set it up in, before unpacking. Remove from the box and place the still wrapped mattress on the bed’s foundation. Because of the significant pressure the mattress is under, the outer wrapping is quite tight. Carefully cut through the layers of plastic, being cautious not to rip the fabric below. We found this mattress took a bit longer than most to set up due to just how tight the packaging is. That said, once the seal is broken, this mattress will expand rapidly, taking shape within minutes. You could sleep on it right away but, it won’t expand fully for at least a day. Full expansion can take longer if delivered in a very cold environment. The day ours was delivered to Western NY, the outside temperature was 17 degrees. Many foams, including memory foam become quite rigid at sub-freezing temperatures. Allow for additional time for the foams to warm and soften.
