My Green Mattress founder, Tim Masters, set out to alleviate his daughter’s eczema and allergies. After extensive research and medical consultation, Tim realized he not only had a chance to help his daughter but others as well. He did so by filling a void in the bedding market with an all-natural product line, My Green Mattress. This review will look at the Hope Latex mattress. We’ll break down everything you need to know before making your purchase decision.

Construction
The Hope Latex mattress is produced using all-natural materials. These handcrafted beds meet or exceed the highest industry standards for purity and quality. The result is a mattress that is safe for both you and the environment.
The cover is made of GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton. It retains a soft feel while remaining durable and breathable. Organic cotton is grown without the use of potentially dangerous pesticides.
The GOTS certified organic wool batting is hypoallergenic and acts as a natural flame barrier. No chemical flame retardants are used. The wool naturally regulates your body temperature, preventing you from becoming too hot or too cold while you sleep.
8″ of GOLS Global (Global Organic Latex Standard) certified Dunlop latex provides a buoyant, conforming feel that is different from synthetic materials. Unlike memory foam, you lay on it, not in it. Organic latex also keeps you cool by retaining less heat than most foams. Because of its all-natural, there is absolutely no off-gassing.
The Hope Latex mattress has 8″ of GOLS certified Organic Dunlop latex. The overall comfort feel is created by varying the ILD’s (Indentation Load Deflection) of each layer. The lower the ILD, the softer, more contouring foam. Likewise, a higher ILD results in a firmer, more stabilizing foam.
Layer 1: The top layer is made of 2″ soft Dunlop latex providing conformity and comfort.
Layer 2: The second layer offers 3″ s of medium Dunlop latex that transitions to the firmer support layer.
Layer 3: The 3rd layer consists of 3″ of firm Dunlop latex that offers stability and support.

- Firmest
The Hope Latex is a medium-firm based on an average size sleeper. Larger or smaller body types may interpret firmness differently. Heavier individuals with a higher body Mass Index (BMI) will sink further and experience a bit softer feel. Likewise, a lighter person’s impressions may lean towards a firmer interpretation. Use our rating as a guideline but take your body type and sleep position into consideration.
Back Sleepers
Even on your back, your body is not perfectly flat. The Hope latex is firm enough for proper alignment but soft enough to conform to your spine. Dunlop latex has a buoyant, resilient quality. It’s pressure-relieving without allowing your midsection to sink too deeply and cause back pain. The majority of back sleepers should find this mattress comfortable.
Side Sleepers
Side sleeper comfort here will depend on your body type and physical condition. While this mattress is contouring, you won’t get the deep body hug or cushion of a softer bed. Its medium-range firmness will have a great appeal to most sleepers. However, those with higher pressure sensitivities may prefer a softer option.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleeping puts your spine in an unnatural position. While it is certainly not the most recommended way to sleep, it is still the choice of many. If you simply must sleep in this position, the Hope Latex is a good option. It is firm enough to prevent your back from dipping too deep and causing lower lumbar pain.
Hope Latex Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Hypoallergenic & Eco-Friendly
- Sleeps cool
- Solid dollar value
Cons:
- Larger body types may still require more support than this 9" profile mattress can provide long term.
- Only one firmness option available
- Slower than average turnaround time for delivery
Who Will Like This Mattress
If you are looking for natural materials, the Hope Latex is certified organic. Only natural latex, wool, and cotton are used to produce this hypoallergenic mattress.
Those who sleep hot will appreciate a much cooler sleep environment than most mattresses that use synthetic materials.
Couples will enjoy less partner disturbance. Dunlop latex does a great job of limiting motion transfer.
Who Will Not Like This Mattress
Those who want an ultra-firm or super soft feel, the Hope Latex may not be for you. Its medium-firm feel will appeal to most, but not all sleepers.
Larger sleepers may not find adequate support long term. This has more to do with the Hope’s smaller profile than a structural deficiency. Most people will find more than sufficient support.
If you want your mattress ASAP, Extended wait for delivery could turn some shoppers off.
Hope Latex Unboxing and Setup
The Hope mattress will arrive at your doorstep roll packed for easy transport. These mattresses are relatively heavy and more pliable than an innerspring mattress. As with any latex, they will bend more while being lifted. Once unrolled and positioned on your bed, the Hope will be a bit more challenging to maneuver than traditional mattresses. For this reason, it’s important to set it on your foundation before unwrapping.
