Construction

Loom & Leaf Mattress Construction

Layer 1

The Cover – Loom & Leaf’s quilted cover is made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. The surface is a soft, breathable, and durable material. It is made from a thistle barrier that creates a natural flame barrier — eliminating the need for dangerous chemical fire retardant sprays. It includes a Guardin® botanical antimicrobial fabric treatment and an organic damask bronze trim as a finishing touch.

Layer 2

Spinal Gel – This layer provides more than just a cooling element. A heavier concentration in the center 3rd of the mattress adds spinal support.

Layer 3

Memory foam – 5 lb. density memory is well beyond the industry average. It’s both supportive and pressure relieving. Loom & Leaf memory foam is CertiPUR-US certified to be free of harmful chemicals.

Layer 4

High-density base and transition foams provide added support stability.

Loom & Leaf Rating

Overall Value

93/100

Overall rating reflects the combined scores of all values. The categories have been weighted in our calculations based on their individual importance.

Support

95/100

Dense, quality foams give excellent support and body alignment.

Pressure Relief

90/100

The Loom and Leaf mattress provides contouring comfort. Neither the firm or relaxed firm offer deep body-hugging conformity. But, it will accommodate those seeking more of a midrange comfort option.

Motion Transfer

100/100

This mattress does a great job of limiting sleep partner disturbance. Dense memory foam significantly reduces motion transfer.

Ease of Movement

75/100

Generally, memory foam is slower to respond and makes movement a bit more difficult. That said, neither the firm or the relaxed firm has deep body hug. Movement should be easier than softer memory foam mattresses.

Sleeps Cool

90/100

Cooling gels offset memory foam’s tendency to sleep hot. While natural latex still sleeps cooler, it’s a noticeable improvement from past memory foams.

Off-Gassing

95/100

No dangerous chemical fire retardants are used in the production of the Loom & Leaf mattress. Memory foam is produced with 30 - 40% plant-based (corn & soy) material. All foams meet CertiPUR-US certification for emission safety standards.

Durability

90/100

5 lb. density memory foam rivals far more expensive Tempurpedic models. Base foams use multiple layers of proprietary densities. We believe this mattress should last at least 8 - 10 years.

Edge Support

70/100

The contouring characteristics of memory foam mattresses often means you should expect a trade-off in edge support.

Sex Friendly

75/100

Memory foam responds rather slowly after movement. It lacks the same bounce and buoyancy as latex or coil spring mattresses. That said, neither model is designed to have a deep body hug. While not a strong suit, Loom and Leaf foam will still respond better than softer memory foam mattresses.

Trial Period

90/100

A 120 night sleep trial is provided. Return for full refund during this period if not fully satisfied.

Warranty

100/100

15 Year Non-Prorated Warranty: Loom & Leaf’s warranty is very customer friendly but does come with a few stipulations: The first 2 years: Saatva will replace your Loom & Leaf mattress at no charge if deemed defective. This procedure starts with a phone conversation with one of Saatva’s service staff. Typically, photos are requested to verify your claim. Once your mattress has been determined to be defective, A full exchange will be done at no additional charge. Years 3 - 15: Saatva will repair and reapply the cover on your mattress. A $99 fee will be charged (each way) for shipping with no other fees applied. Turnaround time is roughly 7 - 15 days. this fee remains the same throughout the remainder of your warranty period. Based on current industry practices, we feel this charge is reasonable. The issue for some may be the length of time without a mattress. Not everyone has a spare guest bed to sleep on. For those people that simply cannot be without a mattress for this long a time, the "Fairness Replacement Option" might be the right solution. Fairness Replacement Option: This is where Loom & Leaf separates itself from the competition. When using the "Fairness Option", you get to keep your original mattress. In years 3 - 5, your mattress will be replaced for 30% of its original value. In years 6 - 10, it will be replaced for 50% of its original value. In years 11 - 15, that percentage goes to 75%. Delivery is free and no other charges are applied. This program is a supplement to the standard warranty and takes place at the customer's discretion. This allowance is made instead of repair of your mattress; not in addition to repair.

Delivery

100/100

Free white glove delivery and in-home set up provided. Most online companies do not offer this at all and seldom for free.

Money Value

100/100

Loom & Leaf is an exceptional value when compared to similar products. You could expect to pay twice as much at a retail store for a comparable quality.

Loom & Leaf is produced in both a relaxed firm and a firm model. These two options will cover the needs of most, but not all sleepers comfort needs. Neither mattress will provide the deep body hug of an ultra plush mattress. Your preferred sleep position plays a large role in determining comfort. We’ll explore which mattress may be best suited for each position.

On your back…

Most back sleepers require a firm to moderate feel. The idea is to stay in proper alignment but still have decent pressure relief. Loom & Leaf’s relaxed firm will accommodate the majority who sleep in this position. A larger individual with a greater BMI will be absorbed further into the mattress. In this case, the firm could be the answer.

On your side…

Side sleepers require a bit more conformity for the shoulders and hips. Unless you are someone who genuinely prefers a firmer feel, we recommend the relaxed firm. This mattress will accommodate most but not all side sleepers. Those who have greater pressure sensitivities might want to consider other alternatives.

On your stomach…

Stomach sleepers will typically require a firmer mattress. It’s important not to allow your back to dip too deep and cause lumbar pain. Depending on your personal firmness preference, either the firm or relaxed firm would be a good option. As previously stated, body mass plays a role here as well. A lighter individual will not sink as deep and may prefer the relaxed firm. Likewise, heavier sleepers often prefer the firmer option.

Who Will Like This Mattress

Those who like the pressure relief of memory foam but want limited sinkage will like this mattress.

If you sleep hot, Loom & Leaf will sleep cooler than most memory foam mattresses.

Couples will appreciate the limited motion transfer. This greatly reduces sleep partner disturbance.

Value seekers looking for a luxury mattress at a great price should consider Loom & Leaf.

Who Will Not Like This Mattress

If you like an ultra soft mattress with lots of body hug, this may not be your bed. The relaxed firm is the softest option. It should accommodate most but not all sleepers.
